ABOUT TINTYPE
Tintype is a photographic process from the mid-1800s using collodion and silver to make a positive image on a plate of metal. From start to finish, it takes about 20 minutes to make a single image. After the images are washed thoroughly and dried, they get coated with a traditional varnish. Through a combination of technique, knowledge, and magic, a one-of-a-kind, handmade image is created that can last generations.
You receive both high-resolution digital scans as well as varnished tintype plates.
BOOKING DETAILS BELOW
Please read the following information before you book your tintype session:
I book appointments up to 2 months in advance. For bookings beyond that, please wait until my schedule opens up. Follow me on social media for updates on new booking periods.
INDOOR POP-UPS:
Maximum 3 people in one indoor tintype portrait. If you want a larger group tintype, I recommend booking at an outdoor pop-up, offered May-Oct.
When using my lights for indoor sessions, the exposure time is 1/60th of a second, which is great for photographing kids and pets.
If you're interested in having a pet or a child under 8 years old in your portrait, please visit my FAQ page to see if it's possible.
Indoor tintype portraits can go as wide as standing from the knees/ waist up, and as close up as you desire.
OUTDOOR POP-UPS:
I can accommodate larger groups for outdoor tintypes, sky is the limit!
When shooting outdoors, exposure times are between 1-8 seconds long. Keep this in mind if you are wanting to be photographed with a young child or pet. You can find more info on my FAQ page.
I always try to do outdoor tintype pop-ups at locations where I can bring indoors if the weather isn't suitable, so keep this in mind leading up to the time of the session.
Feel free to email me at info@correiaphoto.com if you have any more questions.
